There’s Always a Party Pooper

I listen to a lot of podcasts by people I admire and respect. Brene’ Brown, Glennon Doyle, and Martha Beck are a few of my favorites. I love when they interview famous people. I always learn a lot. One thing I have heard mentioned more than once is that as some of them have started going public, they quickly learned to not read the online comments. It surprised me that these amazing people, including Brene’, would even get negative comments. How could others find anything to say terrible about them? What the fuck? It’s always stumped me.
I am learning that there will always be people who refuse to seek growth in their life. They choose to remain stuck, judgmental and bitter; god forbid if they see others living a life of freedom and happiness. If they can’t be happy, then apparently neither can anyone else.
Maybe it’s all the boxes they conform to and it just blows their mind to see someone else not living by “the rules”. It makes me sad for them. Sad that they cannot allow themselves to explore and create a life that they love. How do I know that these people aren’t living a life they love? It’s easy. The ones building a life they love are too busy living that life. They don’t waste time looking around and judging others lives cause they don’t want to miss out on their own fulfilling adventure.
Taking the leap to open my life to the public and share my story took a lot of guts. I do it because I know there are lots of hurting people out there who need to know they are not alone. My hope is that if any part of my story can help someone feel seen and valued, then it’s worth it. And ultimately, by taking my freedom and sharing my journey with the world, I hope to empower and inspire others to do the same.
I got a sickening, ridiculous comment recently. It was obvious that this person has absolutely no clue about me or my life no matter how much they listen to my podcast or read my blogs. People like this are blind. Blind because they would rather hold onto their beliefs and live in misery, then open their eyes and embrace a beautiful life of freedom. It’s pretty sad when people have to hide behind a fake identity so that no one knows who they are. The truth is that judgmental people are just really scared people. They live their lives in fear.
I will continue to blog. I will continue to podcast. And I will spend my life sharing my passion with the world. We don’t need more boxes. We don’t need more rules. We don’t need the 500 million versions of “right/wrong.” We need freedom. We need permission to silence the outside voices screaming with immature blaming and shaming so we can listen to our own voice that will guide us to our north star.
I think we all know that there will always be a plentiful amount of people who try and control us. Let’s remember that they are just scared. And like the words of Glennon Doyle we too can say “No fear on my island.”
I choose authenticity; even when others don’t like what they see. As far as I’m concerned, they can just look the other way ;).
I’m gonna leave you with 2 songs to listen to this week. Before you forget you should go right now and look them up.
“King of Anything” and “Chasing the Sun” both by Sara Bareilles.
These are my new favorite songs!
